About Athena Fund

Athena Fund empowers teachers in Israel by providing innovative educational tools, professional development, and opportunities for personal and professional growth. Named after Athena, the Greek Goddess of Wisdom, the organization was founded in 2006 by leading figures from Israel’s business and technology sectors under the leadership of Uri Ben-Ari, CEO of UBA Ventures and former Executive Vice President of Ness Technologies.

Athena Fund is a non-profit organization supported by philanthropic partners, private donors, municipalities, and members of Israel’s business community in Israel and around the world.

Over the years, Athena Fund has led groundbreaking national educational initiatives that provided thousands of teachers and kindergarten teachers across Israel with advanced digital tools, including laptops, tablets, and iPads, together with extensive professional training programs. To date, more than 30,800 teachers and kindergarten teachers in 188 local authorities have participated in Athena Fund initiatives.

Athena Fund’s first major nationwide program, Digital Toolbox for Every Teacher, laid the foundation for integrating innovative technology into classrooms across Israel.

Today, Athena Fund’s current flagship initiative is ImagineBox — an innovative immersive-interactive classroom program being implemented in schools throughout Israel. ImagineBox classrooms create experiential learning environments that give students the feeling of being fully immersed inside the subject matter they are studying, transforming traditional learning into an engaging, interactive educational experience.

To date, approximately 130 ImagineBox classrooms have been established across Israel, and Athena Fund plans to expand the project in the coming years to Jewish schools around the world.

Athena Fund has received international recognition for its educational and social impact, including Special Consultative Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and membership in the International Council for Open and Distance Education (ICDE).
